Front End
Not a major update. I have a feeling that most updates from here on in will be minor things. Got the front brake on, and the front guard. Aside from the brake line, this is complete. Am still waiting to get the clip-on brackets modified before I can then move onto the handle bars and getting the rest of the wiring hooked up.
Very tight quarters around the brake caliper. I had to pull the brake pads out in order to get the caliper on. I imagine whenever I have to remove the front wheel, it’s going to be problematic. The pads will have to come out every time.

Following the progress with interest , looking at doing some thing like this myself ……
Congrats on the project- its looking better every time i check the site out. Could we please get some pics of the whole bike as it stands currently?
Cheers,
Dan.
Thanks guys. Dan, I’ll take a photo tonight for you, no swing arm or rear wheel on though yet.
Leaving the blasted look on the fork lowers, or painting, or polishing? Same question swingarm.
Seat looks AWESOME!
Building my wheelset over the next few weeks, soon to be a rolling chassis.
Hi Dave,
Yeah the plan is to leave it blasted finish. Swingarm too. The original plan was matt black, I even painted the fork legs, but the matt paint is not durable. I looked at powdercoating but then this raw material finish idea started to grow on me.
My first bike was a matte black harley bobber, almost impossible to keep the finish looking right. Not sure how long it will be until the sandblasted look will be marred. Are you clear coating them like that, or leaving raw metal?
I’ve just been giving all the blasted parts a spray with WD-40. It picks up the grease pretty easy (when handling them) but cleans really easy too. If it starts to look rubbish I can just give it another shot with the sand blaster, but I think unless it’s hit with stones it shouldn’t need it.
