As It Stands
Dan has asked to see a photo of the whole bike in it’s current state. So here it is. The tank would be on too if I didn’t mess that up. The rest of it is in the boxes, waiting for one thing or another in order to go on. Without the rear wheel on, it’s very hard to get an idea of proportion for the overall look of the machine.

Thanks for the update , I’ll keep on checking back .
Aesthetically speaking, I think you nailed the fork length. The massive tire, fat fork tubes, and brake rotor all look great together. Nicely done.
Hi Hicholas, I’m glad you think so. Validates my feelings on the fork length!
I think the fat tyre does balance out the large fork tubes nicely. And those fork tubes are significant! There’s about 5mm gap between the tyre and the fork on each side, so it really is the biggest I could fit – not that I would want a larger tyre anyway. Still wonder is 18″ wheels would have been a better choice, but I know the tyre selection for real tyres is better on 17″s.
You know, if you had posted a poll without this picture, I would have voted 18″, or even 19″ — I dig big hoops and don’t care for the motard look as much — but it works here. I might even go as far to say that the only thing an 18″ or 19″ would have done is limit your tire options.
Yeah I think with motards – 17″ wheels and full height suspension, the gap between the tyre and guard is massive. On mine, with the lower suspension, the gap is much less so gets away with the 17″s.
The other thing with 18″s is I’m not sure how wide I can get the rims in, I decided against skinny tyres early on.
Thanks for the pic! Its looking superb! I have severe project envy..
Looking forward to more updates.
Cheers
Dan.
Hi,
I love your project i’ve one in the same base!
Please tell me what is the rims brand and where you buy it?
Thank! Keep working!
Hi Quentin, The wheels are Warp 9. I bought them, along with the spokes, from Motostrano http://www.motostrano.com/ .
